Where to get vegan fish and chips from 100% vegan places in London
The vegan version of this popular dish comes in different forms.
“Tofish and Chips” is made by wrapping a slab of tofu with nori sheets, a traditional Japanese food made from a certain type of seaweed which gives the dish a “fishy” flavour, and then frying in a vegan batter.
Banana blossom can also be used as a fish substitute – it has a flaky texture similar to fish, but no string flavour so most recipes add seaweed flakes for flavour before frying in batter.
Note that the Sutton and Sons vegan chip shop on Graham Road in Hackney, is no longer exclusively vegan :(

The Canvas Cafe is a cafe and creative venue turned vegan in Jan 2018, serves tofish and chips, breakfast, pancakes and famous for its freakshakes.
The Spread Eagle vegan pub – all food and drink is vegan – serving “pub grub” such as fried “chicken” burger, mushroom “scallops”, nachos with vegan chorizo and vegan cheese and beer-battered “tofish and chip” burrito. Opened Jan 11th 2018.
Unity Diner non-profit restaurant and bar opened Oct 2018 by vegan activist ‘Earthling’ Ed Winters. Varied menu offers burgers, hot dogs, pancakes, waffles, salads and loaded fries. Large dessert selection including brownies and cheesecake. Drinks include beer, wine, coffee and a fully vegan cocktail menu. Profits go to animal charities
