Event Details

After over 6 years of organising the Walkabout, I thought it would be a good idea to make a few changes, to re-fresh and add some more Walking to the Walkabout :)

My idea is we will walk to Brixton, which will enable us to really explore the back streets and parks of Southwark, Vauxhall & Oval along the way, and then enjoy lunch wherever we like, then after lunch, some of us may like to chill out in Brockwell Park, or head to a pub if the weather’s bad, or carry on Walking, taking a different route back to the river… :)

Bring Water & Vegan snacks for the Walk :)

Approximate times (may run later; updates will appear in the comments)
We’ll gather in the Courtyard of Somerset house, by the statue near the fountains (nearest tube; Trafalgar Square, or Charing Cross Station, or Waterloo)

Start walking, possibly heading out the back of Somerset House, to the balcony facing the Thames, turn right & follow a path down to the street to cross Waterloo Bridge

We’ll pass by Waterloo station, and meander through back streets, taking us via a few parks, including eventually Kennington Park :)

1.45ish or maybe 2pm *Given walking pace, bathroom breaks as needed, etc*
We’ll arrive at the first port of call, Cafe Van Gogh; some can eat here, or we can meet latecomers here, and some may like to carry on, another 20 minutes walk, to the outdoor & indoor markets & Ms Cupcake :) *See the long list below*

After lunch, depending on the weather, we may meet at ~>

Or other pubs include;
MARKET HOUSE, PRINCE ALBERT (All three on Coldharbour Lane, near Ms Cupcake)

Or, if the weather’s nice, we’ll chill out in…

(Which is near two pubs, HOOTENNANY & EFFRA SOCIAL, or further afield, at Brixton Hill, there’s THE WHITE HORSE *nice pub, good playlist*

Or, we can carry on enjoying exploring & walking, maybe take a different route BACK TO THE RIVER :) & get tubes/buses home from there :)
